The Lord is like a Father to His children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him.
Psalms 103:13 NLT
In Christ, you don’t lack a single spiritual blessing. You are God’s precious child and there is no better father than Him! You did nothing to deserve His adoption, love, goodness, and mercy. You simply said yes to the most wonderful invitation there ever was or will be.
In Ephesians, Paul writes about some of the spiritual blessings we’ve received, including:
- adoption
- righteousness
- grace
- forgiveness
- fellowship with God and His people
- an inheritance
- the Holy Spirit
These spiritual blessings are the greatest, most important, and most beautiful things in this life. True misery only comes from being distant from and void of these heavenly blessings.
Ask yourself do you believe these spiritual blessings are all completely yours? This list is a small sample. No matter whether you’ve been a Believer for 80 years or only for a day, these truths are never to be taken for granted.
There isn’t anything you need that your heavenly Father doesn’t already know about. God is tender. He knows every aspect of my life. He is keenly aware of the high and low points of my life. When the words cannot come out in prayer, thankfully the Holy Spirit prays on my behalf. The response is the tenderness I appreciate when no one seems to understand my situation or when it seems no one has my back. God demonstrates His compassion. His loving compassion receives me flaws and all.
Jesus declared to His own Father:
“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed the to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.”
Matthew 11:25-26 Esv
Our faith requires we believe that Jesus is God is a gift. No matter how old you are when you become a child of God, you are instantly made aware you are just that: a child, helpless to save yourself. And you know what? God’s tender, compassion and grace is open and approachable for anyone.
Today, in your quiet time, choose one spiritual blessing in Christ to focus on. Pick the one you often fail to remember or understand. Fix it in your mind, and ask God to help you understand and apply that blessing to your everyday life.
…now what, Linda
