For the word of God will never fail.
Luke 1:37 NLT
Every one of my closest and dearest friends and family know I am a storyteller. I can almost guarantee I have a story to share for every situation my friends share with me. For the most part these narratives are the funny or foolish occurrences of my life in which only God divinely saved me from myself. These testimonies allow me to share how God honors His promises. These stories are my testimonies.
Over the years, my testimonies strengthened my faith. These testimonies have power. I can’t help but share it with others. My stories are meant to encourage, enlighten, and most importantly expose the amazing and extraordinary ways God has intervened, sheltered, and rearranged my often-crooked paths of my decision-making.
Boy, has God kept His promises. He protects me. He never leaves or abandons me. He provides my every need and desire as long it aligns with what He desires for me. He comforts me from sadness and anxieties. He will provide me with rest. His love never fails. There are so many more!
A personal testimony is simply the Good News presented in terms of your own experience. It is the experiential, practical, and lived out as part of the proclamation of the Gospel. It is sharing where your life and God’s actions have intersected.
There is something powerful about hearing testimonies from people we know or someone in our lifetime. It reminds us that God is still a miracle-working God, and we can trust His word. It encourages us in moments of discouragement.
When we share testimonies of God’s goodness with others, we strengthen their faith and invite them to partake of God’s goodness. Consequently, we are sharing the many remarkable ways God stands by His word and never fails us. Exchanging these testimonies with others becomes a mini praise party celebrating the goodness of God in our lives.
One thing I have rested my entire faith upon is God’s every word has purpose. He always does what He says He will do. There are times that God’s methods are not my methods. In fact, my plans do not work. Sometimes, I find myself wondering about and waiting on Him to act. It is in those times that I start to pray and converse with Him on my thoughts and worries. It is in those quiet times of contemplation that God reminds me that He is working it all out, even while I wait. God is faithful and I must continue to trust Him no matter what. Imagine the wonderful testimonies you will have once you start collecting the memories of the many million – billion – trillion ways God keeps His word on your behalf.
Do you have a testimony? Share it with someone today.
Again, you may be thinking, I have nothing to share. Consider your relationship with God. Think about all the remarkable moments of your life when out of the blue something occurred differently than what you planned. Having a close growing relationship with the Creator of the universe is one step toward developing your own testimonies.
Ask yourself what promises from God do you need to cling to today?
- I need to remember that God has great plans for my future.
- I need to remember that He is in total control of my life, and I am safe with Him.
- I need to remember that nothing will separate me from God’s precious love and forgiveness.
…now what, Linda
